Patient Population Considerations in Educational Content Development

As part of our commitment to high-quality, evidence-based continuing education, faculty are asked to evaluate whether cultural, linguistic, demographic, health disparity, or implicit bias considerations are relevant to their educational content. This process supports compliance with California AB 1195 and AB 241 and helps ensure that educational activities reflect the needs and characteristics of patient populations when appropriate.

Faculty should consider whether health disparities, population-specific outcomes, cultural or linguistic factors, disability considerations, geographic or socioeconomic barriers, or implicit bias may influence the subject matter, clinical application, or patient outcomes associated with the topic. When applicable, these considerations should be incorporated into the educational content. When not applicable, a brief explanation should be provided.
